The Detroit Police Department is experiencing another spike in Covid cases, but Chief James Craig isn't sure it's work-related.

He thinks it may be from social gatherings and family events, the Detroit Free Press reports. Precincts are now ramping up contact tracing and testing.

As of late Tuesday morning, 52 officers and 10 civilian workers tested positive, and a total of about 92 people are in quarantine, Craig said.

"This thing has spiked up," the chief said. "We've gone through great pains since we started to see an uptick. As a Covid-19 survivor, I take our response to this extremely seriously."
