It's no surprise that another court has rejected a lawsuit by Trump supporters challenging the election outcome.
What's somewhat surprising is that the vote was so close, considering that state and federal judges in Michigan and around the country have resoundingly rejected earlier suits alleging wide fraud.
The Michigan Supreme Court decided 4-3 to dismiss a suit by two members of Black Voices for Trump, Angelic Johnson and Linda Lee Tarver, who petitioned the court directly on Nov. 26, Paul Egan of the Detroit Free Press reports.
They sought:
-
An election audit
-
A declaration that Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson violated their constitutional rights
-
Appointment of a special master or legislative committee to investigate alleged fraud in absentee ballot counting at TCF Center in Detroit
-
An injunction preventing Gov. Gretchen Whitmer from certifying presidential election results, as she already did
The three Democratic-nominated justices — Chief Justice Bridget McCormack and Justices Richard Bernstein and Megan Cavanagh — were joined by Republican nominee Elizabeth Clement in denying the requested actions without oral arguments.
