Detroit Digest: We Go For the 'Big Baby Burger' on the City's East Side

January 10, 2021, 11:00 PM

Bruce "Big Baby" Harvey has been cooking never-frozen, ground chuck burgers since 1999 at his carryout, The Food Exchange Restaurant, at 8451 Harper Ave. on Detroit's east side.

The most notable item is the $12 "Big Baby Burger" -- a nine-ounce ground chuck burger topped with corned beef, Swiss and American cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, pickles, mayo, ketchup and mustard and served on an onion roll. The restaurants also serves turkey, lamb and salmon burgers, chicken and catfish sandwiches, lamb chops, fried shrimp, salads and breakfast with beef or turkey bacon.

Detroit Digest hosts Carlos Parisi and Kyle Sammy headed there recently to sample the menu.
