910am talk radio station owner Kevin Adell is lifting a ban on discussion about former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick after backlash that included the resignation of two hosts.

On-air personalities were late last week told they and their guests could no longer mention Kilpatrick after he didn't respond to Adell's offer for a show.

Kilpatrick was released from prison Jan. 20 after Donald Trump commuted his 28-year prison sentence for corruption.

A Thursday media release announcing the reversal of the gag order said discussion of the former mayor is "now welcome and even encouraged."

"It's important that the public hears all points of view," Adell said. "Radio is a two-way medium and I am encouraging all hosts, guests and listeners to share their thoughts during a time when free-speech is under attack."

The release cited censorship at other platforms including Facebook and Twitter.
