Newly elected Washtenaw County Prosecutor Eli Savit is making dramatic changes in the county's justice system.
Since taking office in early January, Savit has eliminated cash bail, "zero tolerance" policies for certain drug offenses and the prosecution of consensual sex crimes.
"Everyone involved in the justice system—crime survivors, defendants, witnesses, and families—deserves to have their unique case treated with the care that it deserves. That is how the prosecutor’s office will proceed moving forward," he says on the "Craig Fahle Show" on Deadline Detroit.
