Andiamo Dearborn Becomes Another Restaurant Victim of Covid

February 25, 2021, 3:38 PM

Andiamo Dearborn, which had been serving Italian dishes at 21400 Michigan Ave. for 17 years, is closing on Saturday, the victim of the pandemic, Crain's Detrot Business reports.

The restaurant says it lost $3 million during Covid, with a third of the losses coming from a decline in banquet bookings.

Jay Davis of Crain's reports:

Owner Joe Vicari, who runs more than 20 restaurants as a part of the Joe Vicari Restaurant Group, notified employees about the closure on Thursday afternoon. The 60 full- and part-time employees have the option to take employment at another Vicari location, he said.

"Whoever wants to do that, I'll allow it," Vicari said. "They were appreciative of that."

The restaurateur said the pandemic-related closures, "pauses" and in-person capacity limits were too much for the location to fight off.

Andiamo in Sterling Heights closed last summer.
