Vickie Thomas, who worked for WWJ Newsradio 950 for 30 years, was a Detroit media fixture until last week. She chronicled the changes in the city, and saw generations of reporters come and go.

After three decacdes at WWJ, she started asking: "What else is there?" Then she got a call from Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, who convinced her to take a job as the city's communications director.

On April 29, she retired from WWJ. On Monday, she starts her new job with the city.

She talks on the "The Craig Fahle Show on Deadline Detroit" about her radio career and what's ahead.
