Gary Jacobs

A former priest in the Upper Peninsula pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree criminal sexual conduct in Dickson County, paving the way for him to spend many years in prison.

Last month, ex-priest Gary Jacobs, 75, pleaded guilty to four counts of criminal sexual conduct in Ontonagon County.

Under the plea agreements in both counties, Jacobs will serve eight to 15 years. The cases are handled by the Michigan Attorney General's Office.

Sentencing in Dickinson County on July 2 will follow sentencing in Ontonagon County on May 25. The sentences will be served concurrently.

"I am proud of the work done by our clergy abuse team to reach this plea agreement," Attorney General Dana Nessel says in a statement. "None of this would be possible without the courageous victims who have been willing to share their stories in order to achieve justice."
