Toddler dead, child seriously injured in Detroit freeway shooting

Michigan State Police are investigating a Thursday night freeway shooting that left a 2-year-old boy dead and 9-year-old hospitalized in serious condition.

A pickup truck carrying the kids was shot at on I-75 near McNichols by a late-model silver Chrysler 300 with no license plate, police said. The driver found their children hit after pulling off the freeway.

A motive is not yet known.
