Rock bassist Chris Campbell, a Silver Bullet Band member at its start in 1974, hits a sour note in his 45-year affiliation with Bob Seger. The longtime sideman, now living in Florida, claims in a lawsuit that three of Bob Seger's businesses based in Birmingham owe him royalties and other paytments.

Chris Campbell and Bob Seger aren't in harmony now.

The three-month-old case advances to an Oakland County Court conference next month before Judge Martha Anderson. She requests a "good-faith estimate of damages sought for all claims and counterclaims" at least a week before a case management discussion Aug. 10, reports Aileen Wingblad of The Oakland Press.

Campbell ... filed a five-count complaint in April claiming the company he owns with his wife, Courtney Campbell — Crisco, Inc. — is owed an unspecified amount of money for tours in 2018, 2017 and 2014. ...

A response filed in June ... says opportunities were provided for Crisco’s certified public account to audit [financial] books. ...

Seger’s camp is seeking a dismissal of the case, as well as reimbursement for attorney fees and other costs. ...

Campbell began working with Seger in the early '70s and was with The Silver Bullet Band from its formation in 1974 through the Nov. 1, 2019 conclusion of Seger’s farewell tour.
