It's a wrap for a new Detroit police officer who was arrested for fighting in Greektown just hours after being sworn in.
The videotaped incident occured last Saturday morning shortly as bars were closing and was broken up by fellow officers, the department has said. The unnamed rookie still wore uniform pants from a Friday afternoon police academy graduation ceremony with 22 other probationary officers at Campus Martius.
The officer, charged withg disorderly conduct, resigned as he faced dismissal, Fox 2 reports. He allegedly was drunk at the time, the department said, and Chief James White predicted Monday that an internal affairs inquiry "will not be a heavy lift."
Separately, another Detroit officer is under investigation for punching a man's face in Greektown while on duty early this month. And in western Wayne County, a 25-year-old Westland Police Department rookie, Sebastian Iavasile, is on administrative leave after being arrested twice within hours last weekend for allegedly hitting and choking his girlfriend.
