Restaurants, bars and supermarkets are crowded, with many people unmasked, though Michigan's Covid numbers suggest reasons to be concerned.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reports 2,247 new daily Covid cases for Tuesday and Wednesday, up from the daily figure of 718 reported Sept. 1, 2020.
And those numbers compare to 40 new cases reported in Michigan this past June 25, before the Delta variant became the 900-pound gorilla in the Covid battle. Fifteen virus deaths were listed reported that day in June.
For the past two days, the state reported a total of 59 deaths, 36 of which were from vital records searches.
Some medical experts predict a fall spike.

The indicators of an impending surge have risen drastically: Case rates in Michigan are up more than 1,000 percent since June 22, the day Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's administration rolled back the remaining statewide pandemic orders.
The new numbers come on the same day the state renewed its call for people to get vaccinated.
"We now have a fully FDA-approved Covid-19 vaccine and ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices) has added its unanimous recommendation," Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, chief medical executive and chief deputy for health at MDHHS, said in a statement.
"For Michiganders who have been waiting for this approval, now is the time to get the safe and effective Covid-19 vaccine and join the more than 4.7 million Michigan residents who are already fully vaccinated. The vaccine is our best defense against the virus and the way we are going to end this pandemic together."
Nearly 66 percent of Michiganders have at least one dose.
