The FBI is indeed focused on Detroit City Council staffers' relationships with the towing industry, a Detroit News review of a search warrant inventory form shows.

According to the News, during a raid on city hall last month, agents seized:

... electronics, towing paperwork, shredded documents and payroll records for an aide of Detroit City Councilman Scott Benson during a high-profile City Hall raid last month.

Items seized from the City Council suite — including shredded documents, thumb drives, towing records and checks and W2 records for 35-year-old Benson aide Emberly Vick.

In addition to the office of Benson's aide, the homes of Benson and his chief of staff were also searched, as were the homes of Councilmember Janee Ayers and her chief of staff.

Councilmember Andre Spivey was indicted on a bribery charge several weeks earlier.
