Local authorities are warning of potential flooding with heavy rain in the forecast starting late Tuesday afternoon and throughout the next several days.

The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department will have crews working additional hours to respond to potential flooding, which may include cleaning catch basins, pumping water off streets and inspecting city sewers.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to check their drains and move items off basement floors.

Already a power-related issue has been reported at Freud, an east-side pumping station run by the Great Lakes Water Authority, prompting it to request help from external power suppliers. This is the same station that experienced pump issues after a power outage in June. The area is expected to get 2-4 inches of rain, Fox 2 reports.
