Some people were surprised when police found northern Oakland County residents James and Jennifer Crumbley, parents of the Oxford High shooter, hiding in Detroit.

Not Detroit Police Chief James White. He tells the Detroit Free Press his department prepared for the possibility of the parents, who face involuntary manslaughter charges, fleeing to Detroit.

"We literally talked about the possibility of Mr. and Mrs. Crumbley in the Oxford incident and the two of them actually being in our city," White tells the Freep. "We actually debriefed that and talked about our metro division and our resources and what we would have in place should that happen. So, we weren't surprised."

"This is policing. Anything could happen. We talked about our protocols. We talk about active shooters, and what we have in the field for active shooters should an active shooter happen. So we weren't surprised. We were prepared."

The couple, nabbed early Saturday in a building on Bellevue Street near East Lafayette Boulevard, are in the Oakland County Jail. Bond was set at $500,000 each.
