Michigan's Benson and Nessel Have 14 Times the Campaign Funds as GOP Opponents

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and Attorney General Dana Nessel are in an enviable position with less than three months to go until the Nov. 8 election.

The two Democrats have about 14 times the campaign funds available compared to their Republican opponents.

GOP's Matt DePerno, who is running for general, reported on Tuesday raising $577,258 and having $125,706 still available to spend at the end of the period, The Detroit News reports. Kristina Karamo, an educator running for secretary of state, reported raising $467,373 and having $277,250 still available to spend.

As of Aug. 5, Nessel and Benson combined to have $5.7 million still available, The News reports, adding:

Benson of Detroit reported raising $2.1 million in 2022 and having $3.2 million available to spend. Nessel of Plymouth reported raising $1.5 million and having $2.5 million available
