On Facebook, no-frills Detroit coney connects with 'Duly's Nation'

Duly's Coney Island is the star this week at Eater Detroit, where editor Serena Maria Daniels writes not of chili, but a standout Facebook page "churning out ... rather grounded takes on all manner of local news."

It's not something you'd necessarily expect from the no-frills coney on Vernor, but it's true. We navigated to the page and saw conversation-starting posts advocating for reduced truck traffic through the neighborhood, the resurrection of the derelict former YMCA near Clar Park, and asking how much the historic church for sale a mile away might fetch.

An administator of the page declined to tell Daniels who was behind the posts, written for an audience dubbed "Duly's Nation." But on Facebook yesterday, they responded to the article by unmasking the authors as staff and friends of the restaurant.

If they'd like to take their talents to the next level, we know a local website for sale.
