Bloomfield Township Police said this week they're concerned that recent home burglaries may be linked to an international crime ring that's hitting posh homes in Oakland County and other parts of the state, Channel 7 News reports.
"What we know is that these are highly organized crews that are from well outside of Michigan committing these crimes," Bloomfield Township Police spokesman Nick Soley tells the station.
In September, the Oakland County Sheriff's Department warned residents that an organized crime ring from South America was breaking into homes in the county and other parts of the state.
Soley says police have yet to confirm that the recent burglaries are part of an international crime ring, but investigators see similiarities.
Last Thursday and Sunday, between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., there were two separate burglaries at homes in Bloomfield Township, reports Ruta Ulcinaite.
The station reports that crews of three to four men have made off with high-end jewelry, purses and other valuables.
