Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said Monday she won't be on any ticket in November for president or vice president.

“I’m not leaving Michigan,” Whitmer told reporters in Lansing, according to Bridge Michigan.

Whitmer, who was a national co-chair of the President Biden campaign, endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president on Monday and nixed speculation she might be the vice presidential nominee.

“I’m proud to be the governor of Michigan. I’ve been consistent. I know everyone is always suspicious and asking this question over and over again. I know you’re doing your job — I’m not going anywhere.”

Whitmer is in her second and last term, which ends in 2026.

If a Democrat is elected to the White House this November, she might have an interest in a cabinet position and possibly a run for president in 2028. She's garnered a lot of good national press.

Donald Trump, who was campaigning at a rally in Grand Rapids on Saturday, told the crowd that Whitmer is a lousy governor.

Conversely, she's not so fond of him.
