The Democrats need to win the Senate races around the country to maintain the majority.
One race the nation is focused on is here in Michigan where the latest polls shows Democrat Elissa Slotkin with nearly a 5 percentage point lead over Republican Mike Rogers, The Detroit News reports.
The poll of 600 likely Michigan voters commissioned by The Detroit News and WDIV shows Congress member Slotkin with a 46 percent to 41 percent lead over former Congressman and ex-FBI agent Rogers. About 13% of voters remain undecided.
"I think these numbers are likely to tighten. There's room for Rogers to increase his numbers a little bit, but what really struck me here is that Elissa Slotkin has immediately moved to the center," pollster Richard Czuba of the Lansing-based Glengariff Group tell, which conducted the survey, tells the News.
"Every race is going to be fought in the middle for centrist, independent voters. She's already got a big advantage here, and Mike Rogers, coming out of his primary, is going to be playing catch-up with independents."
Slotkin and Rogers are both expected to easily win their primary races.
