Judge Kenneth King

Detroit 36th District Court Judge Kenneth King, who had a teen handcuffed and put in jail garb for sleeping in his courtroom, has been bombarded with criticism.

He's been removed from hearing cases while he undergoes training and he lost his adjunct teaching positiion at Wayne State University. Some have called for his firing.

That being said, the judge has his share of supporters, as is evidennt on social media.

Here's some comments on his Facebook page and on his fan page, "King's Corner."

Please Judge there is no reason to defend yourself, you did the right thing. I wish someone like yourself was willing to step up when my daughters were that age. Thank you for all you do.

Jackie Szynkowski

You did the right thing. People need to show respect to the Courts and Judges. It’s sorry to say that you needed to do it and not her family. If parents and families taught respect at home our society would be a better place.

Judge Kenneth King's courtroom is a sanctuary for children, where he fosters growth and understanding. His dedication to the well-being of all children is unwavering, and he uses his courtroom as a tool for life lessons. No child is judged harshly, and he approaches each situation with empathy. Would people find greater solace if he had ignored her disrespectful foul mouth? Asking for a friend.

I have known you all your life dear nephew. You are such a kind man. You believe in fairness and decency.  Any decision that you make is done with love and concern.  Always remember God is in control of everything and all will work out for good.  Love you so much.

Judge, I've been knowing you for a long time. You're loving, fair, up right, stern, respectful, and no matter ,you were not wrong. You were disrespected in your courtroom by that young lady. Teach them early so they can grow and learn respect. I stand by Judge Kings decision.
