Harris Campaign Attacks Trump For Holding Michigan Rally in Howell Where They Chanted 'We Love Hitler, We Love Trump'

The Harris campaign on Saturday chastised Donald Trump for scheduling an appearance in Howell in Livingston County on Tuesday where white supremacists last month rallied and chanted “We love Hitler. We love Trump," the Washington Post reports.

“The racists and white supremacists who marched in Trump’s name last month in Howell have all watched him praise Hitler, defend neo-Nazis in Charlottesville, and tell far-right extremists to ‘stand back and stand by.’ Trump’s actions have encouraged them, and Michiganders can expect more of the same when he comes to town next week,” Harris’s Michigan communications director, Alyssa Bradley, said in a statement, according to the Post.

Trump spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt responded: "President Trump will travel to Howell to deliver a strong message on law and order, making it clear that crime, violence, and hate of any form will have zero place in our country when he is back in the White House."

On Saturday, July 20, as ex-President Donald Trump and running mate J.D. Vance came for a rally in Grand Rapids, demonstrators in Howell, about 90 minutes away, were at the I-96 and Latson Road overpass chanting, "We love Hitler, we love Trump," the Livingston Daily reported.

In another part of the city, a group of about a dozen White supremacists chanted "Heil Hitler" during a march that lasted about a half hour. Their faces were covered, and they carried signs, as they gathered on the lawn of the Livingston County Historic Courthouse, the Freep reports. The publication said it was unclear if the two demonstrations were linked.

Deadline Detroit at the time sent a message for comment to "the office of Donald Trump." There was no response.

Days after the Howell incident, Metro Detroit attorney wrote a column for Deadline Detroit titled:

Shame on Trump Camp For Not Condemning Michigan Supporters Chanting 'We Love Hitler, We Love Trump'
