Saying she had "lived my childhood dream at the very station I grew up watching," WXYZ sports reporter and weekend anchor Jeanna Trotman announced Tuesday on social media that she'll be leaving the station.

Her WXYZ bio says she graduated from Henry Ford II High School in Sterling Heights and went on to earn a communication degree at Lake Superior State University in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

In  college she was a four-year NCAA Division-II student-athlete playing volleyball at Lake Superior State.

Her junior year in college, she interned at WXYZ in the sports department with Don Shane, Tom Leyden and Brad Galli.

After college, Trotman completed a Master's degree in broadcast journalism with a specialization in sports reporting at Boston University.

Her first job in television was in 2014 at KAAL, the ABC affiliate in Rochester, Minnesota where she served as sports director.

She returned to Michigan in 2017 as the sports director at WEYI/WSMH, the NBC and FOX affiliate in Flint.

In 2021, she joined the sports department at WXYZ.

In 2017, she married Zach Trotman, whom she first met in college. He is retired from the NHL after nearly ten years of playing for the Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, and Pittsburgh Penguins, the bio says. They reside in Metro Detroit with their son Luca and German Shepherd "Murphy."
