Matt Gaetz and Shri Thanedar
It may be an odd reaction to the bad behavior of former Congressman Matt that included paying for sex and violating Florida's statutory rape law by having sex with a 17-year-old girl.
But this past week Michigan Democratic Congressman Shri Thanedar responded by pushing for more rights for sex workers.
"We should decriminalize sex work to maximize sex workers' legal protection and their ability to exercise other rights, including unionization, justice, and health care," he posted on X last Thursday, along with an article from The Guardian on the Congressional findings on Gaetz's behavior.
"Decriminalization and regulation would prevent trafficking and exploitation of minors."
None of the women who took money for sex from Gaetz have been criminally charged.
The Detroit News reports:
Thanedar, reached for comment about his social media post, told The Detroit News he was "looking into this issue and will speak with other members to see if there is willingness for reform." He declined to comment further on the Gaetz report's findings.
Gaetz resigned from Congress in November after President-elect Donald Trump picked him to be the next attorney general. He eventually withdrew him name.
