
George Romney and Earvin "Magic" Johnson
President Joe Biden on Saturday gave the Presidential Medal of Freedom to 19 people including Michigan native Earvin "Magic Johnson and the late state Gov. George Romney, Huffington Post reports.
The Presidential Medal of Freedom is considered the nation's highest civilian honor.
Johnson, 65, attended Lansing Everett High School where he played basketball before going on to star at Michigan State University and the Los Angeles Lakers. He's become a successful businessman.
Romney, the father of former Sen. Mitt Romney, served three two-year terms as governor of Michigan. He died in 1995 at age 88.
