One big concern of people hesitating to buy an electric vehicle is that there aren't enough charging statons.
This latest news won't totally eliminate that concern, but it's a step in the right direction.
The city of Detroit announced this week that it plans to install more than 100 high-speed EV charging station across 40 locations in the next two to three years. The stations will be located along highly traveled areas.
The stations are a result of $15.2 million the city of Detroit and the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments were awarded for EV charging, plus a $23.4 million grant last year.
“Electric vehicles are the future of the auto industry and Detroit is going to support that shift by making sure we have a network of safe, convenient and easy to find high speed charging stations for people to use,” said Mayor Mike Duggan. “These stations will be along major corridors and at major business centers and multi-family housing and will be as easily identifiable as any Project Green Light business. We are deeply appreciative to the Biden administration for its support.”
