There are no water sports, flip-flop vendors or beach umbrella rentals at Campus Martius Park's new sandscape and deck, but it gains one resort-like amenity this week.

Construction of the Beach Bar and Grille was set to start Monday afternoon on the newly built deck on the edge of the new sandpit. It will open sometime this week.
The extension of Fountain Bistro will have a light menu after 11 a.m. and outdoor bar service from 2-9 p.m., Skid posts at his Table Talk blog with a snap showing sling-back beach chairs on the sand and cafe tables on the adjacent patio and 80-seat deck.
