Katherine Austin of Bloomfield Hills will lead 45-minute sessions each Tuesday at noon.

Something is coming new alongside the Detroit River.

Weekly noon yoga sessions begin July 23 and run through Aug. 13 at Milliken State Park, instructor Katherine Austin of Bloomfield Hills tells Nicole Rupersberg at Model D.

"I want people to go back to work inspired and have energy in the afternoon, and see how little yoga it takes to shift your energy," she says. . . . "What better place to elevate and raise vibrations through yoga and meditation?"

Classes run 45 minutes on a grassy area near picnic shelters in the 31-acre park at 1900 Atwater St. Participants need a yoga mat, water bottle and loose clothing.

An optional $10 donation is suggested to to benefit Urban Farming, a nonprofit that plants produce gardens on vacant Detroit land. "It's win-win for uplifting Detroit." Austin tells Model D.

Austin owns Karma Yoga in Bloomfield Hills.
