Video: State Rep. Bettie Scott Cook Refuses to Say Why She's a No-Show at Work

November 24, 2018, 10:03 AM

State House Rep. Bettie Cook Scott is one of those disgraceful polticians who thinks it's OK to collect a paycheck and not show up to work.

She has been a missing person in Lansing since voters rejected her on Aug. 7 as a candidate for the state Senate. She represents residents on Detroit's east side and in the Grosse Pointes. She's also got the worst voting attendance record in the House.

And she won't talk about it to Fox 2's M.L. Elrick.

Elrick followed her around and confronted her, but she got in her car and refused to say anything.

"Representative Scott, we missed you at work today. why weren't you in Lansing today? were the sales that good at the beauty supply shop?' Elrick asked.

Eventually, she told Elrick to contact her attorney.

Her term in the House ends this year.

The Detroit News reports that The House Business Office, at the direction of Republican House Speaker Tom Leonard of DeWitt, has taken over her office and will manage staff to ensure someone is available to answer the phone for Detroit residents seeking help.  The office took over operations there nearly two weeks ago

You might recall Scott caused a stir during her campaign for state Senate by referring to her opponent, Stephanie Chang, as "ching-chong."
