Supino Pizzeria's second location just opened for carryout slices and pies in New Center.

So, Deadline Detroit photojournalist Michael Lucido, producer of our restaurant show, Detroit Digest, headed over there on Thursday with his fiancé Joan Lutz to check the new joint and buy a couple of pizzas. (Video below.)

The New York style(ish)-pizza purveyor opened in a long-abandoned former hat shop Wednesday, about two-and-a-half years since first announcing plans for the location. The site was supposed to open last year, but inspections slowed things down, owner Dave Mancini told Deadline Detroit last month.

Mancini says the large kitchen buildout at 6519 Woodward Ave., just north of West Milwaukee Street, lets him experiment with additional offerings like gnocchi with pesto.

You can find the menu and place a takeout order here or by calling (313) 314-7400. Hours are 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday.

Table and bar service are coming.
