Store sales have ended. "Today will be Oakwood Bakery's last delivery for all retail stores," a Woodhaven market, Trentwood Farms, posts Sunday on Facebook. "The family has made the sudden decision to close their doors and retire. They will continue to service restaurants and sub shops to give them time to find an alternative."

Another wholesale customer, Eureka Farm Market and Deli in Southgate, wishes "good luck to the folks at Oakwood Bakery."

The bakery is on South Waring Street on Detroit's far southwest side in a neighborhood called Oakwood Heights. A resident of nearby Melvindale, Annette Prevaux-Matejko, on Sunday posted about a time when it allowed walk-in sales.

"Hard for small family businesses to survive these days," she says on Facebook. "Great memories of my mom taking us there as kids -- that smell and the warmth when you walked in the door."
