Kwame Kilpatrick and his wife Laticia Maria McGee are expecting a baby.
She is 20 weeks pregnant, Kilpatrick tells Deadline Detroit.
"Laticia and I are about to bring forth a brand new baby boy," Kilpatrick said in an Instagram video. (Watch full video below).
The former Detroit mayor and McGee married in July at the Historic Little Rock Baptist Church in Detroit.
McGee was a receptionist in the mayor's office from 2002-04, while Kilpatrick was mayor. They "may have spoken once or twice," he previously told Deadline Detroit, but had no relationship at the time. When Kilpatrick was in prison, the two began a correspondence and love blossomed.
On Saturday, Kilpatrick said during an interview with Deadline Detroit that he plans to launch a virtual ministry called Movemental Ministries on Jan. 20 from his adopted state of Georgia. It will include Saturday services, bible studies and workshops.
The venture comes exactly one year after former President Donald Trump freed Kilpatrick from prison after he served nearly eight years of a 28-year sentence for public corruption charges.
Kilpatrick has three adult sons and an 11-year-old stepson.
