Update: Thursday, Nov. 9 -- Yes, we've been posting stories sporadically since we officially shut our operation on Sept. 5, 2022.
Since that time, the University of Michigan Bentley Historical Library was kind enough to transfer all out content to their servers to preserve 10 1/2 years of stories and videos. It's taken a while, and it's not offidically available yet on their site.
In the meantime we've been posting some stories.
It's unclear how long we'll keep doing that. We'll see. -- Allan Lengel, editor.

Well, this is it.
Sad.
But it’s been a great run for nearly 10½ years.
Today, Labor Day, is the last day that Deadline Detroit will officially publish.
I’m proud to have worked for The Detroit News and The Washington Post, but equally as proud to have worked for Deadline Detroit all these years.
I’m grateful for all the talented reporters, editors, contributors, advisers, lawyers and advertisers who helped us publish our brand of journalism since 2012. I’m also grateful to readers and those who donated or became monthly-paying members.
I’m also proud that we never compromised our coverage. Though we lost advertising opportunities as a result, I have no regrets. After all the years of working for The News, The Post and doing an internship with investigative columnist Jack Anderson, that was never going to happen.
I’m particularly grateful to Peter Karmanos Jr., who helped fund our journalism all these years and let us do our thing without meddling, even when prominent figures in the community complained to him.
We’ll continue our one-hour weekly discussion show, “The Week That Was,” which can be seen on our Deadline Detroit and Deadline Detroit TV Facebook pages, our YouTube channel and our podcast. And I’ll continue to appear on 910 AM radio as a co-host with Adolph Mongo and Vanessa Moss on “Detroit and Black and White” Saturday’s from 10 a.m. to noon.
For the time being, this site will remain up while we work on archiving the 10-plus years of great stories. We may occasionally give in to temptation and add new posts, particularly for news about city hall, Lansing or Spectrum and Beaumont. We'd still like to know how much former Beaumont CEO John Fox got as a golden parachute after he diminished the quality of care at the hospital system.
For those who have asked, yes, this week we'll turn off credit card billings of monthly contributors.
Lastly, I can’t over-emphasize the importance of readers supporting other local publications. We need more journalism in Detroit, not less. Great journalists still work here in the public interest and have a lot of territory to cover. Please support them and their publications with donations and subscriptions.
It really is important.
And thanks again to you, the readers. You made it all worth it.
