Detroiter Barry Holley Washington, 45, was charged this week with shooting and wounding a Detroit Police officer.
The incdent began last Thursday around 11:15 p.m. when officers responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 12900 block of Burt Street on the city's west side.
On the second floor of the building, officers encountered Washington, who fired a shotgun at them, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.
Gunfire was exchanged and one officer was struck in the arm. He was treated at the hospital and later released. Washington was not wounded.
Washington has been charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder, one count of discharge of a firearm in a building, and three counts of felony firearm.*
