Pollster Ed Sarpolus said Wednesday that Michigan Democrats are working overtime to sabatoge President Joe Biden's re-election bid in the state. He also criticized Democratic leaders like Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Mayor Mike Duggan for being "silent" and not doing enough in Michigan to help the president win a second term.

Sarpolus, executive director of Target Insyght in Lansing, made the comments in wake of a poll published in the Detroit Free Press Wednesday showing Donald Trunp leading Biden in Michigan 45-41 percent with a margin of error of plus or minus 4 points. Another 14 percent are undecided. Sarpolus was not involved that poll.

He said Democrats are creating these close number, not Republicans.

"This is a temporary thing, only if Democrats make it temporary," he said.

"Democrats in Michigan are telling Democrats not to vote for Joe Biden," he said "Rashida Tlaib, the mayor of Dearborn, Andy Levin, leading the pack. Other people are saying don't vote for Biden."

"Secondly, there is no campaign in Michigan by Democrats on behalf of Joe Biden," he said, adding, "there's nobody out there working for Biden...This is self-infliction."

He also said Biden needs to get out more and generate more media attention and Democrats have to get past the age issue and talk about accomplishments and the future.
