There's not many donut shops that have an almost cult-like following.

Dutch Girl Donuts on Woodward Avenue, just south of 7 Mile Road in Detroit, is one of them. The shop, which closed in September 2021 in the midst of the pandemic after the passing of owner Gene Timmer, is still aiming for a reopening in late April

We swung by the shop the other day where a worker was remodeling the inside. The shop, which is still awaiting delivery of some new equipment, is aiming for a reopening at the end of April, according to one person familiar with the operation.

Last year, the family put the business and the building up for sale. After 30 offers, the family chose new owner Paddy Lynch, a third-generation funeral director with Lynch & Sons and owner of Detroit’s historic bathhouse The Schvitz.
