Kyng Malachi Kilpatrick

Ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick on Thursday wished his two-year-old son Kyng Malachi Kilpatrick a Happy Birthday on Facebook and recounted his scary encounter with police on the way to rushing his pregnant wife LaTicia to the hospital in Georgia to deliver the baby.

"The officer jumped out of his vehicle gun in his hand and put it to my head, ordered me out of the car and lay on the pavement of I-75 North in McDonough, GA..," Kilpatrick posted. 'He was telling me that he was going to kill me and his semi-automatic pistol was inches from my head."

His full story is below.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYNG MALACHI!

Two years ago today, May 9, 2022, was one of the most amazingly awesome and scary days ever.

LaTicia started having contractions in the wee hours of the morning. She woke me up to time them. They started off at 6 minutes, but quickly moved to three minutes. We bolted out of the door and headed to the hospital.

THEN…7 minutes into the ride, her water broke. LORD HAVE MERCY! It was ATL traffic and we were gridlock. I pulled over to the side and saw a police officer. I told him that my wife was in “active labor and her water had broken.”

He escorted us to the freeway and a State Trooper jumped behind us. We thought he was part of the escort. BUT NO! I did an illegal “pit maneuver,” hit our bumper, and our vehicle went spinning.

After coming to a stop with my wife in full labor and my 11-year old very afraid…the officer jumped out of his vehicle gun in his hand and put it to my head. Ordered me out of the car and lay on the pavement of I-75 North in McDonough, GA.

He was telling me that he was going to kill me and his semi-automatic pistol was inches from my head. My wife yelling, my son screaming and crying, I remained very calm. He handcuffed me then put me in the back of his police car.

The EMS came and took my wife and son to the hospital 3 mins away. I sat in the car while this officer and his supervisor were trying to figure out a way to address this huge error…after being very nasty in many ways.

They eventually let me go. I walked into the delivery room just in time. My wife and son were relieved and very happy to see me.

We had a long tear-filled moment…and then it was time for KYNG to arrive. My lessons from this story…1) The enemy did everything he could to stop the life and destiny that is on Kyng’s life, and 2) As usual…THE KING OF KINGS WON AGAIN! Happy Birthday Big Fella! You are a miracle in more ways than one. I love you so much.
