Two Suburban Teenagers Wounded in Weekend Shooting on Detroit's Lodge Freeway

June 10, 2024, 12:50 PM by  Allan Lengel

Two suburban teenagers driving in a car on the Lodge Freeway early Sunday morning were shot  and wounded, according to the Michigan State Police. There have been no arrests.

At about 1:30 a.m., police received a call about a single-car crash from an 18-year-old motorist from West Bloomfield who said he'd been shot and was hiding, along with his Southfield passenger, 19. Shortly after, a vehicle crashed into his abandoned car. That driver suffered minor injuries.

Michigan State Police found bullet holes in the teen's car and located him and his passenger. Both had been shot in the arm and were hospitalized, initially in temporary serious condition.

“Detectives are continuing to look for evidence and interviewing witnesses.” said Lt. Mike Shaw of the Michigan State Police in a posting on X.  “Currently, we are working to determine exactly what occurred and possible suspect(s). If you have information call 855.MICH.TIP or Crime Stoppers at 800 SPEAK.UP.”
