While federal authorites continue searching for a motive in the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, they've discovered that shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks did online searches for Oxford High School killer Ethan Crumbley and his parents, the Detroit News reports.

Melissa Nann Burke of the News writes:

That's according to two people who were on a Wednesday briefing call with U.S. Secret Service and FBI officials who discussed what they've learned so far about Trump shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks and what he was looking for online in the weeks and days before the July 13 attack in Butler, Pennsylvania.

In addition to the Crumbley searches, Crooks had also saved on his phone arrest photos of James Crumbley, Ethan's father, according to a third source briefed Wednesday by the FBI.

Crooks, 20, was immediately killed by Secret Service after he opened fire at the campaign rally in Pennsylvania, slightly wounding Trump, killing an attendee at the rally and seriously wounding two others.

Ethan Crumbley, 18, is serving a life sentence for killing four fellow students at Oxford High School and wounding seven others including a teacher. His parents, Jennifer and James Crumbley, were recently sentenced to 10 to 15 years.

Associated Press reported that Crooks also had photos on his phone of Trump, President Joe Biden, Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Chris Wray.
